Lord & Taylor is selling its flagship New York City store to WeWork for $850 million. The deal will convert most of the landmark building into office space and the headquarters for the real estate and business community startup. The agreement is an acknowledgment that even grand shopping spaces of olden days are now more valuable and productive as incubators and offices.
